Chicago 16th edition referencing style

Footnotes and Bibliography for the Chicago Manual of Style 16th edition

What does Chicago 16th look like?

The text of your document contains the reference number (which is the footnote number assigned by Word).
This number is linked to the footnote section at the bottom of the page where the number is repeated with the citation/reference information shown after the reference/footnote number.

At the end of your document, all the works cited (and any other works that you consulted) will be listed in a bibliography, arranged alphabetically by author.  The references in the bibliography are in a slightly different format:
  • See the Bibliography tab in this guide for more information
  • Each reference is formed with a hanging indent
