What is a literature review?

A literature review provides an account of what has been published on a topic by accredited scholars and researchers.

An annotated bibliography provides:

  • A summary of the main arguments or idea
  • A critique or evaluation of the source’s usefulness, reliability, objectivity or bias
  • A reflection on how the source fits into your research

Both provide a critical review of the literature.

Further information on writing an annotated bibliography can be found on the my.UQ assignment types page.
