AI Literacy Framework

A framework to enhance the knowledge, literacy and capabilities of UQ students and staff on artificial intelligence (AI).

Acknowledge AI

You understand your ethical obligations when using AI tools or content for assessment or in published work. You understand that there are different ways to acknowledge or reference your use of AI.

4.1 Documents AI process and use appropriately Understands what information about AI use to record (i.e. prompt strategy, including AI tool, description of how you used the tool, prompt(s) used, date) and does this systematically.  
4.2 Understands the importance of acknowledging AI-use  Understand that acknowledging and referencing AI protects your academic reputation, demonstrates your integrity and helps your teachers understand your learning process.
4.3 Acknowledges or cites the use of AI appropriately 

Understand the difference between acknowledging and citing AI 

Know the best practice for acknowledging AI use 

Ability to cite use of AI using referencing styles and does so systematically. 

4.4 Understands the key IP issues and policy considerations when using AI in published research 

Understand that the use of AI tools should be in line with the UQ Intellectual Property Policy and not prevent you from licensing your work. 

Understand AI content may infringe copyright and may not be protected by copyright law in Australia. 

Understand only a natural person is considered an inventor under Australia’s patent law. 

Ability to find and apply advice from funding bodies and publishers in relation to AI use.
