There can be many published academic (also known as scholarly) articles that are not peer reviewed. These articles are still:
- written by authors with academic qualifications who have expert knowledge in the field
- evidence-based (and include references)
- aimed at a scholarly audience.
However, they have not gone through the peer review process. Often this is due to the lengthy process involved.
If your lecturer requires you to use refereed articles in your assignments, you may need to choose a different article.
