What is the difference between citation databases and evidence-based databases?

Citation databases:

  • are also referred to as abstracting and indexing databases
  • most contain citations to journal articles, with links to the full text of the articles whenever available

Evidence-based databases:

  • are also referred to as synthesized databases
  • provide some type of evidence based analysis, synthesis and/or summary of a particular topic, study or question that will aid in evidence based decision making
