With the UQRDM, UQ researchers can give collaborators from other Australian and international institutions, as well as industry partners, access to their project’s research data. The UQRDM facilitates this access via the Australian Access Federation (AAF), eduGAIN, Tuakiri (NZ federation), LinkedIn, Google, and Microsoft.
External collaborators who have been invited to join a UQRDM project should follow these steps:
Follow the link in the email invitation – you will be directed to a screen which asks you to choose an authentication method.
The information below will help you to decide which login mechanism to choose. Institutional credentials are preferred, if you have access to one of these authentication methods.
Important: To ensure your access privileges remain correct, always log in with the same account when accessing UQRDM. Once you have logged in, your choice will be saved in your browser, and a star will appear next to that authentication method.
These authentication methods are available to any collaborators who are not affiliated with an institution in the AAF, eduGAIN or Tuakri federations. They may also be used by collaborators who are experiencing difficulties authenticating with their institutional credentials, due to a technical issue with the login.
Select the authentication method by clicking on the relevant button.
Collaborators from other Australian institutions, including Universities should log in via the AAF.
Collaborators from international institutions should login via eduGAIN. Note that not all countries and institutions are included in eduGAIN. To check if yours is included, please consult this list of institutions that eduGAIN supports. If yours is not included, refer to option c (Tuakiri) or an industry credential (d-g). Unfortunately, we cannot guarantee that all of the international logins will work. If you encounter difficulties authenticating with your institutional credentials, contact ITS Support.
Click either “Australia” or “International” and use the search button to find the relevant institution which you wish to authenticate with. Note that you will need to type the full and exact name of the institution (no acronym).
Click on the relevant institution – you will then be re-directed to the institutional login page. Login with your institutional credentials. Note: If you receive an error message after entering your institutional credentials, please contact ITS Support with details, including screenshots of the error.

Collaborators from institutions within New Zealand should log in via Tuakiri. If you are unsure whether your institution is within this federation, please consult this list of NZ institutions that Tuakiri supports.
Click the relevant institution from the list of NZ institutions presented. You will then be directed to the relevant login page.

When using an industry authentication method, ensure that your email address and display name are up to date in your account, before joining UQRDM. These details can only be updated from your account before signing into UQRDM.
Example: if your LinkedIn account was set up with an old university email before you had your current position, you can change the email address to your current position and update your title to your current role.
LinkedIn login
Sign in using the email address and password with which your LinkedIn account was set up. If you do not have an account, you can create one by clicking on “Join LinkedIn”.

Google login
Sign in using the email address and password with which your Google account was set up. If you do not have an account, you can create one by clicking on "Create account".
Microsoft (work or school)
Use this Microsoft account if your university, institution, or employer has provided you with a Microsoft account for access to applications like Outlook or Office.
Microsoft (personal)
This Microsoft authentication is for personal accounts used for email such as Outlook, Yahoo, Hotmail, etc.
