If you are undertaking research, you will need to set up persistent digital identifiers that uniquely distinguish you as a researcher and connect you to your research activity. Use ORCID ID (Open Researcher and Contributor ID) and other researcher identifiers to:

  • establish your identity as a researcher
  • get credit for your research activity
  • improve your publication workflow
  • draw in accurate data to your UQ eSpace and other profiles, including UQ Researchers and your Individual Activity Profile (IAP).

3. Web of Science Researcher Profile (ResearcherID)

A Web of Science Researcher Profile (using ResearcherID) is a valuable addition to your ORCID profile if you have publications indexed in Web of Science.

Manage your Web of Science Researcher Profile to add your publications, track your citations, and track, verify and showcase your peer review and editorial contributions for academic journals (formerly Publons).

Log in or create a profile and ID

Access Web of Science via Library Search. Either:

Not sure if you already have a ResearcherID? Search your name or ORCID ID in Web of Science before creating a new profile.

Manage your Researcher Profile

If the journal you are publishing in is indexed in Web of Science, add your publications to your profile. This will provide you with citation metrics including your h-index and citations per paper, according to Web of Science.

Your profile does not automatically update with new publications. Use the following options to keep your profile up-to-date.

Connect your ORCID account

Connecting your ORCID account and Web of Science Researcher Profile is a good way to keep both profiles up to date. You can sync publications and peer reviews.

In your Web of Science Researcher Profile:

  1. Press Edit in the Profile box containing your name
  2. Select the ORCID Syncing tab
  3. Press the Connect your ORCID ID button.

Add publications manually

You can also add publications manually. In your Web of Science Researcher Profile:

  1. Press Manage in the Publications box
  2. Press the Add publications button
  3. On the Add publications to your profile page:
    • Review suggested publications
    • Add publications by Digital Object Identifier (DOI)
    • Add publications by file upload (RIS, BibTex, CSV).

Manage your peer review

Your Web of Science Researcher Profile provides verified credit for peer review without compromising your anonymity or violating journal policies.

You can see your peer review activity in your UQ Author Statistics by connecting your ORCID account and Web of Science Researcher Profile. Your ORCID must also be linked to UQ eSpace.

Adjust your Peer Review Preferences

In your Web of Science Researcher Profile:

  1. Press Edit in the Profile box containing your name
  2. Select the Peer Review Preferences tab to adjust:
    • Publisher-invited peer review display preferences
    • Grant review display preferences
    • Peer review availability.

Metrics

View metrics in your Researcher Profile after adding publications, reviews, or editor records including:

  • H-Index
  • Sum of Times Cited
  • Citing Articles.
