Guide to using Library Search

Use different features in Library Search to find the results you need, including books, articles, journals, video, audio, theses, past exam papers, course readings and more.

Export options

You can export Library Search results from the results list or from your Favourites.

Export limits

  • Results list: Up to 50 items at once.
  • Favourites: Up to 200 items at once.

Export single items

On the full item page for a single item these export options are available in the Send to menu: Export RIS, EndNote Online, BibTex, Export Excel, Citation, Copy Link, Print, Email, or QR.

In the results list, click on the ellipses (three dots) icon to Show export options.

Export multiple items from results

These export options are available for Multiple items: Export RIS, EndNote Online, BibTex, Export Excel, Print, or Email.

  1. Select multiple items from the results list (up to 50 items):
    • select checkboxes beside each item
    • select the checkbox at the top of the results list to select all results shown on the page
    • select the checkbox at the top of the results list and then select to Choose Top 50 (this appears only on the first page).
  2. After selecting your items, click on the ellipses (three dots) at the top of the results list to Show export options.

Export from Favourites

You can export up to 200 items from your Favourites:

  1. Select your label in the right menu, or use the checkboxes to select one or more items to export 
  2. Click the Show export options at the top of the page.

Note: Depending on the number of items selected, there may be a short delay while the items are prepared.

Export to EndNote

There are two options for EndNote export for single or multiple items:

  • Export RIS - for referencing software that uses RIS format, including EndNote and Mendeley.
  • EndNote Online - for your EndNote Online account.

Generate citations

The Citation option gives the choice to generate a citation for a single item in 9 citation styles.

Available styles: APA (7th ed), Chicago Notes/Bibliography (17th ed), MLA (9th ed), Vancouver, Chicago Author/Date (17th ed), ACS, AGPS, CSE, and IEEE.

Click the Citation icon on the item in Library Search or on the full item page.
