The most effective way to find journal articles on a topic is to search a Library database. The key databases for history journals are:

Historical abstracts
Historical Abstracts indexes articles covering the history of world from the period 1450-present (excluding United States and Canada).
JSTOR
The JSTOR archive of digitised full text journals, covering arts and sciences but does not include current issues.
Project MUSE
Project MUSE is a unique collaboration between libraries and publishers providing full-text and user-friendly online access to humanities, arts, and social sciences journals from 60 scholarly publishers.
